So much startup action happening in India. Some ideas that could be big
IDEA ONE: Indian equivalents of Amazon Web Services, YouTube, WhatsApp, Twitter, Dropbox, StackExchange etc.
The Govt recently banned a few websites since they were not complying with Indian security regulations. If the Govt bans Stackoverflow, work at all software companies will stop. The risk to businesses and the Govt from Indian citizens using non-Indian websites is not trivial. This can get really rough where US websites are required to do something by the Indian Govt which is not permitted by the US Govt. This is a perfect scenario for Indian citizens to start companies in India offering equivalent websites. This has already happened in China - Weibo for social networking.
IDEA TWO: Products && Services for old people is as important as serving young people.
The conventional logic is : the West, Japan, China are aging. India is full of young people. So new businesses in India should focus on the young. The conventional logic is wrong. In the 2011 Census, all the southern states had declining populations. The number of children in India in the 0-5 age group is lesser than the number of children in the 6-10. At the same time older people are living longer and their population numbers are increasing each year (see population pyramid picture to understand this). So services that focus on old people is a huge opportunity. Not just healthcare but everything else - phones, cars, homes, websites that are built specifically for the 40-80 year age group is a huge opportunity.
IDEA THREE: Garbage Management

IDEA THREE: Garbage Management
In 1999, if the govt had asked all of us to assemble our own mobiles && expected the cell phone towers to magically appear, would the telecom revolution have happened? In the Swacch Bharat campaign, each of us cleaning a corner with a broom is just not enough. It will require billion-dollar garbage companies that work on consumer behavior change, innovations in return-path logistics to investments in garbage segregation, processing, incineration. Think what Airtel did in telecom. There is huge opportunity to start companies in the garbage management space.
